Review | Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash

I won't go as far to say that the Garnier Micellar Water has changed my life but it really has improved it. Ever since it first came out I have never been without a bottle and whenever it is on offer I make sure I stock up as I can't bear to be without it. I don't use it to take my make-up off with solely, I use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Wipes to do that and yes, I know make-up removing wipes are awful, I am a terrible person etc etc but I really don't care. I love the ease of make-up wipes, I always have done and I probably always will do. Some make-up wipes are terribly dry and don't take any make-up off at all, instead they just seem to push the make-up around the face but if you wanted a recommendation in make-up wipes then the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Wipes are most definitely my favourite out of all the various different ones I have tried. They are full of moisture and take make-up off effortlessly and don't make the skin feel really sore or rough from scrubbing away at the face. They also leave the skin feeling really fresh and clean afterwards unlike most other wipes which make you feel as if you should wash your face ASAP. Anyway, what I am trying to say is.. I love anything Garnier Micellar Water so when they recently bought out the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash, I bought it straight away.

About the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash:
"Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash, with grape extract, lovingly captures make up and dirt like a magnet, to remove make up without leaving the skin feeling dry or tight. Removes make up from the face, eyes and lips. Micellar technology acts like a magnet to remove dirt and make up. Dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested. Suitable for sensitive skin."

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash comes in two variations, the original pink version or the green version which is suitable for combination & sensitive skin. Both gel washes come in clear bottles with a pump dispenser and for your money you are getting 200 ML of product which is great. The gel wash itself is clear in colour and it has a very clean, soapy smell to it. It is rather inoffensive, although it does slightly remind me of the hand sanitizer you get in hospitals, looks and smell wise. Not in a bad way, though.

When it comes to application, you have to apply the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash to a wet face and rub the product in gently which should cause it to foam and lather when met with water. When I first applied it I did exactly what they said but I didn't find it to lather up very much at all. I still don't, actually and let's face it, it is hardly a product you can apply incorrectly but nevertheless, it still does exactly what it suggests. It is very lightweight on the skin and leaves it feeling thoroughly clean and fresh whilst making sure all of your make-up has been melted away. I can't say how it works on a full face of make-up as that isn't what I use it for but it does help to remove any last little bits that a make-up wipe forgot. It doesn't leave the face feeling really dry or tight like some face washes do either which is great. I would say it was a very gentle face wash which would be best used in between taking your make-up off and cleansing.

Overall, I quite like this little Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash, although I wouldn't say it was my favourite product out of the Micellar range. It does exactly what it claims to do, it helps to remove any lasting bits of make-up and it gives the skin a thoroughly good clean but I find that my regular cleansers do that anyway. All of my cleansers are really thick, creamy and luxurious and leave the skin feeling so beautifully soft but I find this Gel Wash to be rather clinical in comparison. I do like it and I will still use it, but I don't think I would repurchase it, only because after I take my make-up off I can go straight in with my cleanser and get the same results this gives, just a little kinder and a little more nourishing.

  1. Will have to keep an eye on this where I live. I absolutely love the original micelles water and can say that I can't live without!

  2. I have the micellar cleaning water to take it makeup off and it really helps! I use makeup wipes first but find they don't take off every single bit of makeup so using the micellar water after really helps. Do you think this gel wash is good for oily skin? Or do you have any products you'd recommend for oily skin? x

  3. I read this post before I bought it and I'm loving the first impressions my make up literally melted off my face, it's just as good as my cleansing butter from The Body Shop, plus this will help me save some money on stocking up on cotton wool pads haha
