Review | L'oreal Pure Clay Purity Face Mask

When I saw that L'oreal had bought out three new face masks, each offering to deliver different results, I was very excited. I have never been much of a face mask fan, purely because I can't seem to enjoy having something harden on my face. I hate the tight, stiff feeling masks give you when drying, although I am rather guilty of leaving them on for much longer than you are supposed to. The almost cement-like feeling when a face mask hardens makes me feel rather uncomfortable so the recommended twice weekly applications dwindle down to twice monthly.. If that.

But I am a changed person, because I have finally found a face mask that I love. With the new L'oreal Clay Face Mask range offering three new masks, each offering to either purify and mattify, detoxify and clarify and brighten and exfoliate, there is no reason not to buy all three. I recently bought the L'oreal Pure Clay Purity Face Mask and after a couple of uses I am ready to declare that I am now a face mask convert.

About the L'oreal Pure Clay Purity Face Mask:
"For the first time, the L'OrĂ©al Paris laboratories have selected three pure clays and combined them with eucalyptus extract, known for its purifying properties. The creamy texture works deep into the pores, leaving skin purified and matte-looking, without drying it out. A powerful blend of 3 pure clays: Koalin - A highly effective natural clay, known to absorb impurities and excess sebum. Montmorillonite - Rich in minerals, a clay recognized for helping to eliminate imperfections. Ghassoul - A pure clay highly concentrated in minerals renowned to help clarify complexion. Instant and lasting, visible results. Immediately: skin is fresh, clean and purified."

Each L'oreal Pure Clay Face Mask comes in a 50 ml glass pot which is supposed to last you 10 applications. I chose the Purity face mask over the Glow or Detox face masks because I have fairly oily skin so I thought the mattifying benefit within the Purity face mask would benefit me more than the other two. If you are unsure as to which face mask out of the three which would benefit you the most, at the moment Boots is offering little skin tester sheets so you can see which mask is most suited for you. The sheets have three tabs which you push out, each tab for the t-zone, cheek and chin. The idea is that you press each tab to the three parts of the face then match the results to the example on the sheet, thus telling you which mask would work for you the best on different parts of your face. For example, when I did it my results told me that I have an oily t-zone and chin which would benefit from the purity mask but my cheeks are dull, so they would benefit more from the glow mask. It is a really good idea, especially when you are uncertain as to which one to purchase. Of course, if each of your three results match all three examples then you may as well just buy all three!

I found the smell of the Purity Face Mask to be rather light and refreshing - it hits you as soon as you open the outer packaging. The mask itself is really thick, creamy and cooling, although I do find the consistency to be rather sheer when applied. I found that I had to use quite a lot of product to cover my face on first application as it didn't seem enough. Once applied quite thickly, I left the mask to set for the desired time of 5-10 minutes and then washed off with a warm muslin cloth where my skin was left feeling much smoother, softer and any shininess/oiliness had disappeared leaving me with a matte finish.

I really, really like this L'oreal Pure Clay Purity Face Mask. It smells nice, it's deep cleansing and it leaves the skin feeling smoother, softer and any oiliness is kept at bay. Whilst I know face masks aren't an immediate cure and need to be used frequently in order to get more permanent results, I will definitely keep on using this face mask, as well as giving the other two in the range a try!

  2. I saw these for the first time a couple of days ago and reallly want to give them a try. I'm totally a facemask kind of girl, but I've never tried any by L'Oreal. I love the sound of the little testers in Boots, and I think I'll have to pick one up asap to see which of the trio my skin suits best!

  5. Ooooh this sounds great! I think I'll get the detox one! Xx

  6. I have tried various face masks in the past but they take quite a long time to give any longer lasting results however facial peel London treatment which I had a month ago has kept my skin fresh and smooth till now. So I am looking forward to have another one after its effects fade.
