Review // NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Sin

We all love NYX cosmetics and I am sure by now that we have all tried a Soft Matte Lip Cream or two, but did you know they did products other than the Lingerie, Suede or Soft Matte Lip Cream variety? Whilst NYX is very popular, I haven't seen many people raving about their eyeshadows which is a shame as they are actually pretty damn good.

Always on the hunt for a neutral base eyeshadow, I decided to walk past the famous NYX lipsticks and take a look at their eyeshadow range instead. Available in two different types, the NYX Prismatic Eye Shadows which is made up of 12 brilliant, metallic shades and the NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadows which is made up of a whopping 85 intense shades, I was utterly torn at all of the choice on offer. I very rarely buy single eyeshadows on their own unless they are from MAC but because they are so cheap at £3.50, I bought a wonderfully pretty neutral eyeshadow from the NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow range in Sin.

About the NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow:
"NYX's Hot Singles are intense! Powerfully loaded with pigments this versatile formula lets you make a statement for any occasion. Whether your looks is edgy or natural NYX's unique formulation is easy to blend and build on."

Housed in a little 1.5 g plastic pot with a clear lid, Sin is a beautiful light, neutral pink which has tiny specs of glitter running throughout. It's pretty enough to wear either on its own or as a base for other eyeshadows and it does both jobs very well indeed. I can't tell you how hard this shade is to photograph on my skin, which is why I have been unable to capture it in all it's glory but if you did want to see swatches then click here as someone else has managed it better than I!

Sin is rich in pigmentation although it does have a fairly gritty texture to it. Whilst it isn't as silky soft as MAC eyeshadows, it still performs well regardless of texture. Because of the glitter running throughout I did expect some fallout when it came to application but no! Everything stays in place just as it should without any fallout whatsoever which is very good considering I always seem to get eyeshadow half-way down my face when it comes to the application of shimmery shades!

I apply Sin with a fluffy blending brush which isn't perhaps the best brush to apply it with as I find it just seems to pick the product up within the brush but not much seems to come out of it and as I hate wasting things, I really dislike the thought of all of that product being trapped within the brush. Is that strange? I hope not. I feel like maybe a flat brush will be better to just press the eyeshadow onto the eyelid and then blend it out with a fluffy brush.

I really love the NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Sin, so much so that I already have a few more shades on my shopping list for the next time I go into Boots. For £3.50 you get a lot of product for your money but the price definitely doesn't mean you scrimp on quality. Sin is rich in pigmentation and whilst the texture is more on the gritty side, it doesn't fall out during application and when paired with a MAC Paint Pot as a primer, it stays put all day long too.

  1. I have NYX shadow in Bedroom Eyes, and I love that one in my collection. This seems to be an all around great brow shade or how you use this. I would maybe want a shade or 2 darker for my crease because this would match my skin tone too much. This was a great post and I think I need more NYX shadows in my collection.

  7. I love it when you have a single shadow which doesn't product much fallout for this inexpensive price. Most cheap shadows produce a lot and I mean a lot of fallout!
