We are all guilty of buying beauty products just because other people say they are so wonderful and amazing, but are they really as amazing as people say? It can be hard knowing which products to spend your hard-earned cash on so you need to make sure you aren't wasting your money on any old rubbish. Luckily I have wasted mine so you don't have to!
The Beauty Blender - I was really late to the party with this one as I just could not understand why people were making so much fuss over a sponge. But it's not just any old sponge! I am a complete and utter convert to the beauty blending sponge and whilst this may not be the original Beauty Blender, it still works an utter dream. The one above is just Targets own version which I bought in America last year but it has taken over a year for me to fall in love with it. I have been using it for about a month now and it has applied my foundation like an utter dream. No more streakiness or cakiness.. I can't believe I have only just got onto the bandwagon! Is it worth the hype? Yes!
The Kylie Lip Kit in Kourt K - If you read my most recent review on this Kylie Lip Kit then you will know just how disappointed I was in it. This is the most expensive lip product I own now what with the inital $29 for the product, the $14.95 shipping fees and the £12 customs fees, making the product cost a whopping £42.50. And I dislike it. A lot. I am upset that I bought it, actually. I love the Kylie Lip Kit in Candy K which I have spoken about below so when I saw a wonderful vampy dark purple shade I couldn't wait to buy it. But this just isn't the same. The formula is different, the wand is different.. It is streaky and patchy and no matter how hard you try and apply it, it still looks terrible on the lips. Is it worth the hype? No way.
The Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita - Another liquid lipstick that I wasn't too keen on. I couldn't wait to try some of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and I think that if I hadn't have tried the Kylie Lip Kits first, I would probably love these. I typed up a full review of Lolita recently and sadly, I wasn't too impressed. I didn't find Lolita to be too long-lasting at all, in fact it crumbled and flaked away soon after applying, and I wasn't too keen on the shade on my lips. Lolita is very 90's, very outdated and it did not suit me at all. Is it worth the hype? Not this shade on me, no.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - Remember when everyone was raving about Bioderma Micelle Solution but realised it was quite hard to get hold of? Garnier released this Micellar Cleansing Water at just the right time. It does everything that Bioderma does but for a fraction of the price and I really could not live without it. It cleanses and removes make-up whilst leaving the skin feeling hydrated and soft. Is it worth the hype? Absolutely!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm - These NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are certainly doing the rounds at the moment. They are cheap at £5.50 and are readily available at Boots but are they worth it? ...Yeah. They are pigmented and creamy and whilst I don't find them too long-lasting, they are perfect for the price and come in a whole array of shades. Is it worth the hype? Yes.
Kylie Lip Kit in Candy K - aka, my favourite lip product EVER. The formula to Candy K is completely different to that of Kourt K. The latter is very thin and watery in consistency whereas Candy K is thicker and creamier. It is so easy to apply, very rich in pigmentation and once it is on, it is on - it ain't going anywhere!! I could not speak more highly of it. Is it worth the hype? Absolutely.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper - Creating a winged or a cat eye liner can be really hard when you struggle to draw a straight line. It is a real struggle to get liquid eyeliner right and fortunately this liquid liner makes the whole thing so much easier. Because the tip of the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is so thin, it makes it such an easy job and I manage to get my eyeliner correct the first time, rather than having to remove it and start again! Trooper is a really intense black shade and it stays put all day long. By far my favourite eyeliner product and it is a real shame it is only available from Sephora. Is it worth the hype? Yes!
Makeup Revolution Pro Cleanse Brush Tool - Washing make-up brushes is a real arduous task. It is long, it is boring and it makes your fingers go all wrinkly and horrible. Luckily we are seeing so many products come out which are supposed to make the task a whole lot quicker and easier. And they work! I have a Brush Tool from Makeup Revolution but Real Techniques and Sigma both have other versions out there which make the job quicker. The idea to this product is that you put a blob of brush cleanser/baby shampoo onto the tool then just rub the brush up and down a bit and wa-la, your brush is clean with very minimal effort. I couldn't live without it. Is it worth the hype? Yes!
What are your thoughts? Have you tried any of the above but thought differently?
