Review // Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Exfoliating Scrub

I have probably mentioned it about a dozen times now but at the moment my skin is so terribly dry on my face. Every foundation I wear just clings to the dry patches, regardless of my moisturiser, making my face a wonderfully, dry and flakey mess. As you can imagine, I am not utterly thrilled about this so I've tried my hardest at making sure I keep my skin as smooth as possible while it heals. One way of doing this is by using exfoliating scrubs.

I recently had a little hunt down the skincare aisles in Boots to try and find a new exfoliating scrub. I have tried a few out over the last few months but none I have tried have really warranted me to repurchase them. When I buy a new exfoliating scrub, I want harsh scrubby particles. I want to make sure all of the dry skin has gone from my face but brands don't make exfoliators as harsh as I would like - purely because if they did, I am pretty sure their customers would complain about losing a layer of skin or two. If I had my way exfoliators would be as harsh as possible. Although actually, if I really think about it, I would probably prefer not to have a bloody face after every little exfoliation session.

I was torn between the Soap and Glory Scrub Your Nose In It Facial Scrub and the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Exfoliating Scrub, although I eventually chose the latter due to it smelling absolutely divine. It smells so fresh and light, almost soap like. If you like really clean scented fragrances then you will just love this.

About the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Exfoliating Scrub:
"Exfoliates thoroughly while removing dead skin cells. Smooths the skins surface for an even complexion while supporting the skins own moisture balance. The formula with Vitamin E is especially mild to the skin. After use the skin is thoroughly exfoliated and refined, looking healthy and beautiful."

The instructions tell you to only use this product 2-3 times a week but I use it a lot more frequently than that - perhaps every other day. It lathers up really well and you only need about a 50p sized amount to cover the entire face. The formula is really rich and creamy with the little exfoliating particles running throughout which very gently buff away any dry skin cells.

After using the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Exfoliating Scrub I found that my skin was so much softer and more refreshed than before, and whilst it did remove a small portion of the dead skin on my face, I did find that most of it had remained which is why I use the product more regularly than intended. Since battling with the cold weather in America and the recycled air on the plane, my skin has definitely suffered. Very slowly this product is taking the dryness and dead skin cells away but it does seem to be taking a while to heal fully.

I really like this product and its results but it does seem to be taking a while to work to the best of its ability on my skin. I am using it more regularly now and my skin is definitely healing what with exfoliating and heavy moisturising, it's just a pain that it is taking so long. The product itself is really gentle on the skin, easy to use and smells wonderful so I would definitely recommend it.
