Review // Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Raspberry

Before Christmas my sister became slightly obsessed with Zoella and her Youtube channel. She texted me one day asking if I had dry lips, a slightly odd and random message to receive out of the blue one evening I have to admit. I replied with yes and forgot all about it, then I opened this little beauty on Christmas Day. I think I actually said "ooh" outloud! I know you are now thinking "what has Zoella got to do with all of this?" I think this product was in one of her favourites videos and somehow it made my sister think of me. My sister bought the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Raspberry. I had never heard of this before, nor had I ever tried a Clarins product before so I was really looking forward to giving it a try!

About the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil:
"The ultimate lip care treatment! Containing 3 key plant extracts, this non-sticky oil with a melting, lip-plumping formula will leave lips feeling nourished and comfortable. Apply alone or over lipstick for a lightly coloured and natural shiny lip."

My lips are always sore and dry and as gross as it sounds, I do find myself picking at them or touching them quite a lot which I imagine is quite a bad and, lets face it, gross habit to have. I am not much of a lip balm fan, purely because I dislike the shiny, greasy feel they leave on the lips. Instead I exfoliate them twice a day with the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub but even that isn't enough to help at the moment. Fortunately, this product is a life-saviour.

The Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil comes in the standard Clarins red boxed packaging which I quite like but the best bit is definitely the bottle. It looks so luxurious, which I guess it is. Whilst it isn't cheap, this product isn't too expensive, especially considering how god damn good it is. For £18.00 you get 7ml of product for your money which isn't too bad, especially considering how long I think this bottle will last you.

The Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil is a product sent from heaven. Available in Honey and Raspberry, my sister purchased the Raspberry version for me which is slightly odd considering raspberries are one of my most hated foods. I hate the taste of them, I hate the smell.. I even hate raspberry yoghurt. I do not like raspberries. Unfortunately, this lip oil is incredibly sickly sweet scented, it makes my stomach turn. It is very, very sweet and does have a slight raspberry flavour on the lips too which is a real shame for someone who dislikes the fruit so much but, this product is so good I use it regardless.

It has a wide doe-foot applicator which makes application easy although it does feel quite strange using it to apply an oil to the lips. The consistency of the comfort oil isn't oily in that it is greasy, it is fairly light-weight and not too sticky in the bottle or on the lips. You can definitely feel the product on the lips but it doesn't feel heavy or uncomfortable, you can just notice something on there. The Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Raspberry leaves a very slight pink toned gloss to the lips which makes them appear shiny and nourished whilst the product works its magic.

It doesn't take long to notice the product making a change to the lips. After one wear my lips felt so much softer and more hydrated than before. After a few, continuous uses I no longer had dry lips and my lips were healthy, hydrated and in a much better condition then before! It works like a dream. I am so impressed!

I cannot recommend this product enough. As much as I dislike the sickly sweet, synthetic raspberry scent, the product is so good not to absolutely love it. It is a product that does exactly what it claims to do. With one use my lips felt so hydrated and nourished. Within a couple of days my sore, dry lips had gone completely and my lips felt like normal again! The formula isn't sticky or greasy and whilst it is an oil, it doesn't feel heavy on the lips although you can feel that there is something coating them. The Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil is so much better than a regular lip balm and I can't see myself using the traditional balm again!

I have read online that the Raspberry version of this comfort oil is limited edition so if you want to give it a try then you have to be quick! I know £18 is fairly pricey for a lip product but I will definitely be repurchasing, although perhaps I will stay away from the raspberries.

  1. It sounds amazing! I've been thinking about getting this lip oil for a while, but I keep finding other things to buy...

  2. Oh, I love that! I'd be curious to see it on the lips. I'm sure it's not too visible but maybe a bit glossy :) It also seems to make miracles!

  3. I love the sound of this, especially the tint! I have got my eye on the YSL lip oils though!
