NIP + FAB Dragons Blood Fix Cleansing Pads - £6.99
My skin is really bad at the moment. I am usually fairly lucky with my skin as I don't really get many spots but I do suffer badly with blackheads and my skin is very oily whilst still being horrendously dry which is a real treat. Last week I applied my make-up and hurried off to work in an early-morning daze..then I glanced in a mirror and argh, my foundation did not look good. Imagine dry skin with foundation on top. *shudder* My sister recently returned home from university and bought a few new skincare products with her for me to try. One of those products was the NIP+FAB Dragons Blood Fix Cleansing Pads

About the NIP + FAB Dragons Blood Fix Cleansing Pads:
"Refresh and smooth your skin with our gentle cleansing Dragon's Blood Fix pads. Each of the 60 pads are enriched with salicylic and hyaluronic acids which deeply cleanse your pores and provide long-lasting hydration to help your skin appear plumper. The witch hazel helps reduce the appearance of imperfections, leaving your complexion looking smoother and refreshed."

Let's not beat around the bush here. Dragons Blood Cleansing Pads sounds scary. Scary and also a little thought-provoking. "Dragons blood? Are dragons real?....." Yes, I did ponder that thought. In actual fact, the name comes from a tree. Not as exciting as the prospect of a mythological creature is but nevertheless, a fact is a fact. The dragons blood comes from the Croton Lechleri Tree which is also known as the dragon tree and it is the resin from the tree which is now being used in the NIP + Fab Dragons Blood range which is inspired by the Rodial Dragons Blood Collection. In the NIP + FAB Dragons Blood Range you can find a plumping serum, plumping mask and the cleansing pads.

The ingredients inside the Dragons Blood Fix Cleansing Pads are interesting and exciting. The salicylic and hyaluronic acids work to deeply cleanse the pores whilst providing long-lasting hydration to ensure the skin looks plumper. Another ingredient is witch hazel which reduces the appearance of imperfections, redness and tightens pores. I could definitely do with all of the above so I was looking forward to giving them a try.

Inside the pot is 60 enriched pads which, I will not mince my words here, smell. It is a very pungent smell. I don't like it. It is strong, it lingers, and once you have smelt it, you can't un-smell it. The smell lingers for a good 20 minutes on the skin and in the air after you have used a cleansing pad and sadly, the smell alone is a real turn off.

Let's talk about the actual cleansing pads. One pad is all you need for the face and I would say that they are best suited to be incorporated into a bedtime routine. Due to the strong smell, I believe it is too harsh to use in the morning as they can be quite stomach-churning. The cleansing pads themselves are fairly wet so you feel like you are getting a real cleanse on the face rather than feeling like you are just giving it a bit of a going over with a cotton pad. They leave the skin feeling incredibly refreshed, cleansed and generally much perkier than before and they are great at removing any excess make-up scraps too.

The NIP + FAB Dragons Blood Fix Cleansing Pads work well but the smell is just too much for my sister and I to stomach. I believe that as nice as the extra added exciting ingredients are, they aren't enough to make me want to repurchase and endure the smell again. NIP + FAB's ambassador is Kylie Jenner and usually, if she likes something I would want to give it a try but I think I will leave these to her.

  1. I've always been intrigued whenever I saw that these contained Dragon's Blood, it always conjured up images of Game of Thrones for me. I never realised it was from a tree though!

That's a real shame about the smell, it can be so offputting when a product smells bad! In fact, I'd go as far as to say that even if a skincare product's bad (i.e.) doesn't really do the job, I'd probably keep it and still use it if it smelt good enough!
