Review // Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator in Bare Light

I've probably mentioned it before but my sister returning home from University brings not only someone else to make the cups of tea but also the joy that is her make-up bag. Luckily for me, this little gem is inside it - Revlon's PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator in Bare Light. I hadn't seen the shade before but I have seen the Pink and Peach shades in Boots and after a swift swatch on the back of my hand, I was really tempted but the price put me off slightly. So imagine my delight when I saw this in my sisters make-up bag!

What Revlon say about their Skinlights Face Illuminators:
"Get a healthy glow in any light. Banish dullness and even out skin tone with light-capturing crystals and photochromatic pigments."

I can't say that I have ever heard of light-capturing crystals or photochromatic pigments before but they sound wonderful, don't they? I have a real struggle with dull looking skin and I'm always on the hunt for something to perk it up a little bit so this product sounds like the miracle cure I've been searching for.

How to use the Skinlight Face Illuminator:
"Wear alone, mix with your foundation or use to highlight key areas of the face. Try applying to brow bones, cheek bones, the inner corners of the eyes and the cupids bow."

The product is in a nice, sturdy and secure screw-up tube which makes a lovely satisfying clicking sound when it closes so you know it won't leak everywhere in your bag. It is very easy to get the product out of - perhaps too easy as you only need a small amount of the illuminator for the face and I find that whenever I use this product I always seem to have too much left over.  The illuminator is a beautiful champagne/beige colour with a lovely gold shimmer throughout. I've used this product a few times; Once on it's own entirely with no foundation on top and I can't say I was entirely thrilled with the results. Due to having slight rosacea, I had a shimmery red face which wasn't the look I was aiming for.

I then applied it underneath my foundation and the results were much better. My skin had a gorgeous subtle shimmer to it and dare I compliment myself when I say my "face glowed." I then tried it a different day with it just as a highlighter so I applied it to the top of my cheekbones and to my brow bone and I LOVED the results. It is everything you want from a liquid highlighter. The illuminator adds a beautiful subtle champagne coloured highlight to the face and leaves a lovely luminous effect whilst being extremely versatile.

Next time I try this illuminator, I would like to mix it with my foundation to see what the results would be like. I know at £11.99 it is slightly pricey for a highlighter but as a little goes a long way, it will last you quite a while. Available in 4 different shades, I can't recommend it enough. So much in fact that next time I go to Boots I may have to buy my own bottle!
