Review // Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner - £2.99
Forever on the hunt for the perfect eyeliner, I decided to give a lower end liquid eyeliner a try. Someone who I follow on Twitter tweeted they had recently tried a Collection liquid eyeliner and it was better than a £20 high end gel eyeliner so I was already sold. Whilst I don't know which eyeliner it was that she tried, when I went to Boots recently they only had the Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner in stock so I decided to give that a try.

The Liquid Eyeliner comes in a standard black little pot with a long brush which makes it easy when it comes to the application. Sometimes I get all fingers and thumbs when it comes to holding the eyeliner pen/brush so the long handle is ideal. The nib is fairly chunky with a slightly pointed end but ideally it would have been better had the nib been slightly thinner. I usually struggle when it comes to a pointed flick, one flick is usually bigger than the other so I try to even it out, the once small flick gets bigger than the bigger one and before we know it, I have black eyelids from trying to 'even it out', but with this eyeliner I managed to get it spot on first time. It would have been a little easier to get the flick extra pointed had the nib been a little thinner but with a slight angle of the brush I managed okay.

The liquid formula itself is actually pretty impressive, in a way. It doesn't transfer, budge or move throughout the day and stays put which is pretty damn good considering the price. The only downfall I found was the drying time and the colour. As much as it is black, I found that I have darker liquid eyeliners in comparison so that was a little disappointing. Because of this, I needed more than one layer of eyeliner. I applied one layer, waited a few moments for it to dry then tried applying another layer but I found that the second time round I wasn't applying more I was practically taking it off and ended up with gaps and streaks in my carefully placed eyeliner.

You need to wait a couple of minutes in between applications to ensure you don't manage to take the original eyeliner off and the colour could be blacker but, for the price, this eyeliner is good. Really good. I have a love/hate relationship with the formula - the liquid is very wet and it takes a good few minutes to dry although it doesn't budge or transfer during wear. The brush makes it very easy to apply and although I'd like the nib to be a little thinner, it is still really easy to draw a flick on the eyelids.

Overall, for the price this eyeliner is really affordable and well worth the money. It isn't the best in the world, nor has it changed my life but it does what you expect it to do without transferring or budging all day. Oh, and it is available in a Waterproof version too!
