Review: MAC Eyeshadow in Expensive Pink

MAC Eyeshadow - £13.00
For my birthday, which feels like it happened about 12 years ago now, my best friend very kindly let me buy 2 MAC Eyeshadows and I immediately chose All That Glitters and Mythology. Unfortunately or fortunately, whichever way you look at it, the girl serving me gave me the wrong shade so instead of All That Glitters I instead got Expensive Pink!

Expensive Pink is a duo chrome dark peach almost warm gold coloured eyeshadow. It's not very pink at all, it's definitely veering more towards the warm gold, almost bronze range of colours. This is the first MAC Eyeshadow I've tried so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when I applied it. I first tried applying with a fluffy ELF Eyeshadow Brush but I found that the colour got lost between the bristles and not much really happened. Luckily I have a few different types of eyeshadow brushes and found that it applied much better with a flat, synthetic bristled eyeshadow brush.

This colour definitely packs a punch when applied correctly. It's an amazingly pigmented colour so you definitely don't need too much to cover the eyelids. It's really smooth to apply and it lasts all day. I've only used Expensive Pink over the top of my MAC Paint Pot in Painterly so I don't know how it fares without a base underneath but it's definitely worth it just in case. I wore it with Painterly for about 12 hours the other day and it didn't budge or crease all day which is amazing.

I really, really love the colour and the formula of this eyeshadow but I'm not 100% conviced that the colour suits me. I wear it but there is something about it that makes me think that it's not for me but hopefully with a few more wears I'll go from liking it to loving it.

  1. I'm not mad about MAC eyeshadows but I do love this shade, it's really pretty.
