Review: Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Nail Varnish in Shooting Stars

Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Nail Varnish - £2.99
The first time I saw the Maybelline Color Show Polka Dot range wasn't when people were raving about them on the internet and on twitter, it was when my sister bought a few of them in Boots a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't seen them before but they reminded me of L'oreal's Color Riche Confetti Nail Varnish and after a little begging, my sister kindly let me try one out. The one I tried was in the shade Shooting Stars.

Shooting Stars is a deep blue nail varnish with black and white different shaped and sized bits of matte glitter running throughout. When you first apply it it is quite sheer so the blue looks much brighter and you get the odd piece of glitter on each nail. The more you layer it up the more the blue deepens and the more glitter you get.

It took me about 3/4 thick coats to get the amount of glitter on my nails like in the photos above but I think it's completely worth it. One con to this nail varnish is that the formula is very, very gloopy. I don't know if she bought a dud one but it applied horrendously, so much so that as soon as I had initially applied it I wanted to take it off.

Saying that, it is a lovely nail varnish and it makes a nice change.

  1. Such a lovely final look! Need to try these xx

  2. I have the black one, only did one coat though. Looks like I need to layer it!

  3. I need this polish in my collection! it looks so good on your nails :)
